Melania Trump news: First Lady opts for sophisticated black dress at White House event

Melania Trump and her husband Donald Trump hosted a White House reception in honour of National African American History Month yesterday. The 48-year-old wore a stylish black dress for the occasion. The knee-length garment featured a jewel neckline. Going bare legged, she teamed the look with a pair of black stiletto high heels.

It is not known where this particular look was from.

She wore her hair down in sleek loose curls.

For her make-up, the First Lady opted for smokey eyes, and a slick of rose lipstick.

Melania has worn a very similar dress before.

The dress bore resemblance to the one the First Lady wore to a ladies luncheon for International Women’s Day back in 2017.

The garment was from Ralph Lauren, however its exact price tag remains unknown.

However, it seems that the two items are slightly different – due to the design of the skirt.

Yesterday’s look featured a pencil skirt.

On the other hand, the Ralph Lauren look had a floaty cut to the hemline.

While she is now back at the White House, Melania was pictured in Miami, Florida earlier this week.

She wore a red and white floral gown as she stepped out at Florida International University Ocean Bank Convocation Center.

The garment featured a shirt style top, and a midi cut.

Earlier this week, Melania paid tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld, who died at the age of 85.

The fashion designer was the creative director of fashion house Chanel, as well as Fendi and his own fashion label.

Addressing the sad news on Twitter, Melania posted a picture of herself with him.

She also shared a capture of a design for a bespoke Chanel dress, which she wore for an event in 2017.

Melania’s parents are Amalija Knavs and Viktor Knavs, and the couple live together in Washington.

She has one sister, Ines, who is reported to live in New York and work as an artist.

Charity

On May 7 2018, Melania launched her flagship campaign as First Lady, BE BEST, which The White House describes as “an awareness campaign focused entirely around the well-being of children”.

There are three main strands to the initiative: well-being, social media, and opioid abuse.
