Coronation Street spoilers: Carla Connor sent to prison after epic Roy Cropper row?

Tonight’s Coronation Street hour-long special ended with an intense argument between Carla Connor (played by Alison King) and Roy Cropper (David Neilson).

The argument was all to do with how Carla had hidden the fact that Roy was the one who burnt down Peter Barlow’s (Chris Gascoyne) boat.

Roy didn’t do this on purpose, of course. It happened while he was asleep, and it was a complete accident.

However, Carla knew the truth and subsequently deleted the CCTV footage which proved Roy’s guilt, which could, in turn, see her being handed a prison sentence.

When Carla finally revealed the truth to Roy he wanted to alert the authorities and apologise to Peter immediately.

Carla insisted he just went to Peter to apologise and kept the police out of it since their involvement wouldn’t help either of them.

Peter then brought up the fact that Carla’s real motives behind wiping the CCTV weren’t because she wanted to protect Roy, but more to do with the fact that she’s jealous of Abi Franklin’s (Sally Carman) relationship with Peter.

Abi was the police’s main suspect for the crime and Roy couldn’t believe that Carla would have just kept quiet and let her take the blame.

Given Abi’s previous luck with the law, she could have very easily been wrongfully imprisoned again.

The episode ended with Roy and Carla having a massive argument, and Roy told Carla that it was her obsession with Peter that made her delete the footage and not her friendship with him.

He accused her of wanting to see Abi suffer since she’s still in love with Peter.

Roy then told Carla that he was disappointed with her and walked out of the kitchen.

It certainly does seem as though the pair’s friendship is coming to an end as this would be a difficult thing for Roy to forgive.

It’s not known whether the police will decide to go ahead with the investigation after Roy chose to turn himself in.

They told him to go home whilst they decided how to proceed with the case which had been shut up until Roy’s confession.

The fact that he was sleepwalking could work in his favour, and there’s also the fact that Carla had deleted the CCTV footage.
