Anthony Davis: Will Pelicans star play against Lakers and LeBron James tonight?

All eyes will be on the match-up between the Pelicans and Lakers this evening and whether or not Davis will be in action.

The six-time All Star has been heavily linked with a move to the Lakers in the past few months.

New Orleans rejected multiple trade offers from the Lakers for Davis at the deadline, opting to wait until the summer where other teams can enter the bidding war.

The Lakers will likely try again to trade for Davis in the summer, but there is bound to be some conversation this evening when LeBron James and Co. visit New Orleans.

Whether or not Davis plays though remains in doubt as the team have decided to cut his minutes.

NBA rules stipulate teams can’t sit players when they’re deemed healthy and Davis played 20 minutes in Friday night’s loss to the Indiana Pacers, seemingly free of any injury issues.

The Pelicans would risk fines of up to $100,000 per game if they were to sit Davis.

The 25-year-old did only play five minutes in the All Star game last week, three days after suffering a shoulder injury against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

But Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry suggested Davis has fully recovered from the little knock, meaning he will likely be fit to face the Lakers.

The Lakers will then host New Orleans in Los Angeles next week on February 28, before facing off against each other again at the end of March.
