Anthony Davis decision SLAMMED after failed Lakers trade – 'I don't like it one bit'

New Orleans Pelicans general manager Danny Ferry recently revealed they will reduce his playing time to around 25 minutes per game as they look to blood young players so they are ready for next season.

Davis has struggled with a shoulder injury this season and the Pelicans need to prepare for life without him.

The 27-year-old tried to force a move to the Los Angeles Lakers by handing in a trade request before the trade deadline earlier this month.

That failed to materialise and Davis is stuck playing for a side that he plans to leave in the summer.

But Adams thinks restricting his minutes until then is only going to harm the enjoyment for the franchise’s fans.

He said: “From what I’m being told it’s the team’s choice not Anthony Davis’.

“I don’t like it one bit and here is why. People walk through the turnstiles and pay to watch the team and we all know that when it comes to the sport of basketball, it’s the individual players who are magnets for the fans’ attraction.

“It doesn’t matter that he intends to leave. What matters is that if he’s there, will he ball if you let him?

“That answer is yes. And as long as he’s going to out there and ball while he’s on the court, then you’re giving the paying customer what they pay to see. That matters.”

Davis has previously said he is keen to get back playing and put the trade drama behind him.

“I’m going to go out there and play basketball no matter how many minutes I’m playing,” Davis said.

“I’m going to remain professional. My job it to play basketball and help this team.

“That’s what I’m going to do whether its five minutes or 30 minutes or whatever.”

But Smith believes the Pelicans should be looking to get him involved as much as possible.

He added: “If he says he’s not going to play then he’s not going to play but if he is going to, why would you restrict him? That makes no sense.”
