Star Wars 9 trailer release date SHOCK: First trailer '3 weeks BEFORE Episode IX title'

Fans expected a trailer and title at Thanksgiving. Then Christmas. Then New Year. Oh yes, and then at the Super Bowl earlier this month. And so, on it goes. Except there are two absolutely huge dates in the official Star Wars calendar coming up very soon. The big surprise is the new report that the title will be released after the trailer. Unfortunately, it all makes perfect sense and it looks like the footage which will be shown will not be available online to the world for weeks after.

MovieWeb reported: “According to sources, the official title will be revealed on Star Wars Day, May Fourth.”

This particular day has become a major annual tradition thanks to the play on the words of the most iconic of all Star Wars lines. “May the force be with you.”

The report ties in with every other major commentator with the common consensus that the trailer will make its debut to the crowd at Star Wars Celebration on April 12.

However, this does not mean it will be shown online immediately. In fact, in the past, a promotional reel has been shown but not necessarily a proper trailer. The trailer may be held back to pair up with the release of the biggest film of the year.

Avengers End Game is out on April 25 and would be the perfect partner for the Star Wars 9 trailer.

Star Wars News Net reported today: “We’ve heard the first trailer for Star Wars: Episode IX is currently scheduled to debut in April and will also be attached to Avengers: Endgame in theatres… This information comes from a very credible source who has told me things that turned out to be on the mark in the past.”

There is one major problem with the title report, however.

If an official trailer does make its way out into the world, it seems difficult to believe it wouldn’t include the actual title.

However, it is possible they might just banner it as “Star Wars Episode IX” and hold back one last surprise (and media explosion) to release separately.

Once Captain Marvel and Endgame have bowed at cinemas, the path is clear for Disney to concentrate on promoting the final film in the Skywalker Saga. They certainly keeping fans on tenterhooks. Let’s hope it all turns out to be worth the wait…
