SpaceX launch: How to LIVE stream Crew Dragon lift off with NASA webcasts on NASA TV

The spaceship is built to eventually carry astronauts into orbit. The craft will be the first built for humans from US soil since 2011. The Crew Dragon Demo-1 mission will launch at 02.48 EST (07.48 GMT) on March 2.

NASA will hold a webcast of the event on NASA TV and SpaceX are expected to hold their own webcast too.

NASA’s live coverage will begin at 03.00 EST (08.30 GMT) with docking occurring at 5.55 EST (10.55 GMT).

The Crew Dragon will blast off towards the ISS for two weeks in a bid to prove its reliability and safety in carrying astronauts into space.

If successful, SpaceX will secure the first step towards maintaining a direct mode of transport between US soil and the ISS.

The craft is expected to arrive at the ISS on March 3 with the journey taking just over 27 hours.

By March 8, the craft will return to Earth.

NASA’s coverage of the descent will start at 12.15 EST (05.15 GMT).

A deorbit burn, lasting 10 minutes, is expected about 5 hours after leaving the ISS.

The spaceship has been designed to ferry NASA astronauts to and from the International Space Station.

SpaceX is already planning its next launch with an in-flight abort test to demonstrate the Crew Dragon’s escape system in June.

SpaceX is one of two private companies picked by NASA to fly astronauts to and from the space station.

The other company is Boeing, which will launch astronauts on its CST-100 Strainer spacecraft and Atlas V rockets.
