New green Kitkat: Japanese flavours to be sold in the UK including matcha tea

Green tea Kitkats will be produced in Europe, Nestle has revealed.

The cult classic matcha tea Kitkat, which is green in colour, is coming to the UK.

This will no doubt excite fans of the brand.

Green tea Kitkats have been available in Japan since 2004.

The brand infuses match powder with white chocolate to create the treat.

A shocking bright green, the bar might confuse a lot of Britons with its interesting hue.

Now the bars will be made in Hamburg, Germany, and rolled out across the country, then the UK, Sweden an Italy.

Alexander von Maillot, global head of confectionery at Nestlé, said: “The launches of KitKat Ruby and KitKat green tea matcha are further proof of our commitment to our leading international confectionery brand.

“We have introduced other innovative flavours and premium products to KitKat, KitKat Chunky and KitKat Senses in recent years and there is more to come.”

Twitter users had mixed feelings about the news, but generally the vibe was of excitement.

One wrote: “Hhmmm I like green tea and I like kitkats but…….”

Another said: “And i hear Match Green Tea KitKats are on the way to Europe! This is of course the best news, as the best flavour is going to be available here finally.”

“Green Tea KitKats are the best flavour of kitkat. Any other opinion is wrong,” one wrote.

Another said: “Can’t be the only one that’s excited for green tea kitkats coming to the UK.”

The world was shocked when a woman found a Kitkat from 1995 in 2017.

She then bought a new KitKat to compare the two versions only to find the old wafer bar was 6.5g heavier than the new one.

Marks & Spencer shocked with their Valentine’s Day product.

The British high street store is selling a Love Sausage.

Marks & Spencer tweeted today: “Are you ready for our Love Sausage?”
