ITV Good Morning Britain: Adil Ray reveals 'biggest challenge' filing in for Piers Morgan

Adil Ray has made a cheeky remark about Piers Morgan as he prepares to return to the Good Morning Britain desk today.

The 44-year-old, who is filling in for the 53-year-old journalist, also revealed the toughest thing about replacing the TV star.

Speaking about stepping in for Piers, the comic joked: “The benefit of filling in is that it means he’s not going to be there!

“The biggest challenge was the early start having to get up at 3am. I spent a week trying to adjust my body clock!”

He added: “But once you are in the studio it’s like being on stage, where you just get on with it and adrenaline just kicks in. The time whizzes by.”

The star of Citizen Khan also sang the praises of Piers’s co-host Susanna Reid, 48, describing her as “incredibly smart.”

On sitting next to the mother-of-three behind the desk, he admitted: “I was a bit nervous sitting next to Susanna. Who wouldn’t be!

“She’s incredibly smart, cool and of course, well… Susanna! My favourite on air moment? Telling her she was beautiful in Urdu. Smooth? Right?

“Working with Susanna, Ranvir, Kate, Charlotte, Laura, Richard, Sean and the family has really been a lot of fun.”

Also, the actor said he has a lot more respect for the show after working on it and commended it for bringing “some light to people’s morning”.

He shared: “People want that in the morning, that’s the key. News can be quite bleak and monotonous.”

While Adil prepares to helm the show, Piers has taken another swipe at Little Mix following their appearance at the Brit Awards 2019 last night.

The father-of-four accused Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock of “fat-shaming” him after they laughed at a joke about his weight.

During the ceremony, host Jack Whitehall chatted to the girlband about the broadcaster disapproving of their naked campaign picture.

Speaking to the singer, he said: “Piers Morgan didn’t like that picture where you stripped off naked, which is weird, because you know, voluptuous breasts and four chins it must be like looking in the mirror for him.”

He continued: “Jess what would you say to that dutty waste man?” to which Jesy, 27, exclaimed: “Jack?!”

Defending his behaviour, the British act admitted: “I want some beef at the BRITs,” as the superstars giggled.

Taking to Twitter to denounce the group and host, Piers told his 6.4 million followers he was “shocked and disappointed”.

He wrote: “It’s just this kind of public negative body image mockery that the same @LittleMix campaigned against and of which I am now a victim. Shame on you, ladies! #BRITS.”

In a second tweet, he quipped: “And as for chins, at least I’ve got some, you chinless little weed @jackwhitehall. #BRITS.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am.
