Google Chrome update brings great news for Windows 10 users

Google Chrome is the American tech giant’s internet client that is hugely popular.

The client is renowned for its extension system that allows users to customise their browsing experience.

New extensions are frequently added to the Chrome Web Store and offer a range of features.

One of the newest extensions for the software recently released and has been developed by Microsoft.

Dubbed “Web Activities”, the tool is designed to make syncing Chrome browsing history easier across multiple Windows 10 devices.

Windows 10 has a feature called Timeline that was introduced in the operating system’s April 2018 Update.

Timeline replaced the traditional Task View button on the Microsoft software.

Essentially, underneath the Windows 10 window that shows what apps are open, Timeline presents fans with a list of items that have been used in the last 30 days.

The feature syncs across Windows 10 devices, meaning a user can start a Word document on one product and finish it on another seamlessly.

Timeline also allowed fans to sync browsing history on Microsoft Edge for Windows 10 hardware in addition to iOS and Android products.

While such a feature is incredibly handy, it was previously only limited to the American tech giant’s Edge browser.

However, the new extension from Microsoft replicates the functionality for Chrome.

Explaining the new tool, the tech behemoth said: “See your browsing activities across all your devices in surfaces like Windows timeline and Microsoft Launcher for Android.

“With this extension, your browsing history will appear across all your devices in surfaces such as in Windows timeline and Microsoft Launcher for Android.

“Just sign in with your Microsoft account, select a site you’ve recently visited, and pick up where you left off.”

As noted by The Verge, using the tool does mean browsing history will be sent to Microsoft servers.

This is necessary for items to be synced across devices.

The Web Activities extension has been released and is available to download on the Chrome Web Store right now.
