Aquaman: Will THIS Aquaman star be in new Netflix Hulk Hogan biopic?

Aquaman has little in common with Hulk Hogan, save for their sheer size. But there may soon be another thread connecting the DC Comics hero to the real-life wrestler. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is in the final stages of sealing the deal to produce a biopic about Hulk Hogan…

Will Aquaman’s Black Manta star be in new Netflix Hulk Hogan biopic?

If Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has his way, the answer may be yes.

Perhaps in jest, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II took to Twitter to respond to the recent news of Chris Hemsworth signing on to play Hulk Hogan.

The Black Manta actor wrote: “I’m playing Booker T?? Right??”

His tweet was met with widespread support of fans.

Of course, none of this has been confirmed by anyone and seems to be wishful thinking on Abdul-Mateen’s part.

But given the success he has had as the secondary villain in Aquaman, wishful thinking may turn into something more.

Speaking to ComicBook.com before Aquaman’s release, he said: “The fans love this guy.

“I knew that this was a guy that people love and people relate to for whatever reasons,” he added.

“They know that he’s a bad-ass character. They know about his anger, about the destruction.

“And so to be able to step into it and to add a lot of those elements to the things that I was going after, it was really, really a phenomenal experience.”

Abdul-Mateen also has a role in Jordan Peele’s upcoming horror movie Us.

As for the Hulk Hogan biopic, Todd Phillips (The Hangover, War Dogs) is set to direct.

Phillips is partnering again with Scott Silver (having worked together on the upcoming The Joker movie) as co-screenwriter.

Silver shares the duty with John Pollono, predominantly a playwright whose cinematic credits include 2017’s Stronger.

The producers behind the wrestling biopic include Michael Sugar, (Spotlight) via his Netflix-based Sugar23.

Phillips himself and Bradley Cooper are co-producers via their production house Joint Effort.

The star himself is also a co-producer, along with Eric Bischoff.

As of yet, there are no release dates, trailers, or title to speak of for the Hulk Hogan biopic.
