Samsung Galaxy S9 users face bad news today and things could get even worse

Owners of Samsung’s Galaxy S9 face a disappointing day.

The Korean technology giant is about to unveil its next-generation Galaxy S10 today at a joint Unpacked event in London and San Francisco.

This new smartphone looks set to eclipse many of the features found on the current S9 with this upgraded flagship looking likely to get an improved display, more cameras and the added bonus of an embedded fingerprint scanner, bigger battery and the ability to refill other devices wirelessly by simply touching them.

If these major updates weren’t bad enough for those owning a Galaxy S9 there could be an even bigger disappointment.

Earlier in the week, it was revealed that trade-in prices for the S9 could be set to plummet once the S10 is unveiled.

In fact, data from musicMagpie revealed that older Samsung devices could lose up to 35 per cent of their value once the S10 officially becomes available.

Despite the new Galaxy S10 not having yet been revealed it seems prices for the S9 are already tumbling.

At the weekend the Galaxy S9, in good condition, was worth £300 but that trade-in value has already taken a tumble with this device now worth £285 – £15 less than two days ago.

If the research is correct then things could get even worse for owners of this flagship with values for the S9 possibly dropping below £200 in the coming months.

It’s worth remembering that Samsung does sometimes offer improved trade-in deals for anyone upgrading to a new flagship and more details on deals should be announced in the coming weeks.

Rumours are also rife that Samsung will offer free wireless Galaxy Buds for anyone who pre-orders the new S10.
