Maurizio Sarri reveals DOUBTS about succeeding at Chelsea as Italian sends message to fans

Sarri’s position at Chelsea is under serious threat after they crashed out of the FA Cup on Monday night to Manchester United.

The Chelsea fans appeared to have turned on Sarri as they chanted “f*** Sarri-ball” and “you’re getting sacked in the morning”.

It is understood the Chelsea board are considering names to take over with a decision possible next week if they lose to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of Thursday’s Europa League game with Malmo, Sarri was grilled about his future and Chelsea’s current woes.

When asked if he was confident he can succeed, Sarri told reporters: “I have to think I will be Chelsea manager for a long time or I cannot work.

“I am not sure but I must think this and want to work with a long term target.

But the Italian believes a run of positive results can give him a long-term future.

He said: “We need to win three, four matches in a row. It’s the only solution.”

Sarri then confirmed he has not spoken to either Marina Granovskaia nor Roman Abramovich this week amid the uncertainty over his future.

By the end of the week, Chelsea will have played four games in 10 days.

And Sarri feels the lack of time between matches means he has been unable to work on solutions.

He said: “As you know it’s not easy as we have no time, we are trying to solve our problems.

“It is not easy because we have no time but we are trying to talk with the players, to avoid mistakes by detail. It’s not easy because we have to play every three days so we have no time on the pitch.”

Chelsea have injuries concerns over Davide Zappacosta (flu), Pedro (stomach) and Kepa (hamstring) ahead of the clash with Malmo.

Chelsea defender Toni Rudiger was asked about Sarri’s future and replied: “I make nothing of it. This is not my thing, I play football and that’s it.”

But the defender was more forthcoming when putting a finger on why Chelsea are struggling.

Rudiger said: “We always work in training and try to do better each day.

“I think right now it’s about confidence, not a tactical aspect, it’s just confidence and also under performing.”
