HTC One Raises the Bar Again

The world of technology is all about one-upping the competition. Nowhere is this more evident than in the world of smartphones. Apple was the first to show us all a phone could do with the introduction of the iPhone, but Google-Android powered phones are giving iPhones a run for their money. The HTC One is the latest Android device to hit the market and it packs an impressive array of armaments to help combat the iPhone for customer money.

The HTC One shipped out to retailers on May 6th and will be available on all networks. The HTC One lives up to all that smartphone should be, and brings some extras to the table on top of that. The following are some of the specs for the tech-oriented reader:

– 1GB of Ram

– 32GB hard drive

– 8.0 megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash

– 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video-chat

– Android 4.0 OS, dubbed Ice Cream Sandwich

– 4.7″ AMOLED screen with 720p HD display

– NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor with 1.5GHz speed (Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor in U.S.)

– 4G capable

For the average Joe reading this, the HTC One is the latest and greatest smartphone that packs power and speed with a large, brilliant display. The front-facing camera on the One gives HTC a smartphone with video-chat capability across all of UK’s major networks.

Smartphone users constantly bemoan a lack of battery life in their devices, so the developers at HTC gave the One a 1,800mAh battery. The battery is said to provide 12.5 days of runtime on standby and 8.5 hours of talk time. Numerous field tests have shown the phone can run roughly 36 hours with moderate use during an 11 hour workday and standby status overnight. In addition to expanding on existing technologies, new technologies help push the HTC One to the front of the pack.

The HTC One is the first smartphones to hit the market with quad core processors. The Tegra 3 processor is available only on global versions of the phone as accommodations were made for LTE capabilities on U.S. devices. While it wills surrender the crown of America’s first quad processor phone, the HTC One still comes with a 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor. Lastly, the HTC One comes out of the box swinging with the power of Android’s 4.0 OS and seamless integration with HTC’s Sense 4.
