Anthony Davis has 'NO IDEA' what he is doing amid Pelicans and Lakers rumours – NBA expert

That is the view of NBA analyst Justin Verrier.

Davis told the New Orleans Pelicans that he wanted to leave and would not be signing a new contract.

However, the Pelicans blocked all trade proposals from the Los Angeles Lakers as they want to wait to do a deal with the Boston Celtics in the summer.

In the immediate aftermath of Davis being unable to force a move, there were reports that he would be shut down for the season.

Instead, he returned to face the Minnesota Timberwolves, but has been uninspired since returning, and only managed three points against the Orlando Magic.

Things took a turn for the worse as he went off against the OKC Thunder with a shoulder injury, only to be seen leaving the arena with agent Rich Paul shortly after.

Fans immediately began to suspect that he was faking the injury, and that it was a ploy to get out of playing any more this season.

Davis then returned for the All Star game, but played just five minutes.

When asked about his departure from the Pelicans, he promised fans he would post a message on Instagram once his deal was sealed, a move which was incredibly unpopular.

But Verrier insisted that he is simply just too impressionable, and listening to others around him more than what he truly wants.

“I think we’ve discovered about young Anthony Davis that he has no idea what he’s doing,” he said.

“I think Russillo put it best when he said Davis is essentially just really impressionable.

“That’s always been my assumption of him, that at his core he is just a super no-nonsense type of dude, but will be pulled in different directions depending on who’s pulling him.

“Then we got to the actual game, and he’s ready to play but only plays five minutes.

“Now we’re at the point where he doesn’t even get the benefit of the doubt.

“I don’t know if the injury makes sense based on his trajectory, because he almost hit his armpit into his face.”
