Why Huawei's Mate 20 Pro could face its toughest challenge yet

Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro was unleashed on the world late last year with this device arriving packing a swathe of unique features you won’t find on many other smartphones.

Firstly, there’s that clever triple rear camera which not only lets you shoot images in almost total darkness but also offers improved zoom and a wide-angle lens.

Another nice extra is the embedded fingerprint scanner which sits under the screen meaning there’s no more reaching to the rear case to unlock the device.

Finally, Mate 20 Pro users can refill other phones using something called reverse wireless charging.

This clever technology instantly turns Huawei’s flagship into a portable battery hotspot and is certainly one of its most unique features.

With UK stores recently cutting the cost of the Mate 20 Pro there’s no question that it should be high on your upgrade list but this device could soon face some stiff competition.

Samsung will release its new Galaxy S10 later this week with all the latest leaks and rumours suggesting that it will arrive featuring a triple rear camera, embedded fingerprint scanner and the ability to refill other devices wirelessly.

If true, that would mean Samsung will match many of the specs found on the Mate 20 Pro.

And if that isn’t bad enough for Huawei, a new report from a trusted analyst suggests that Apple is about to bring some new tech to its iPhone range as well.

Ming-Chi Kuo – who has a long history of correctly predicting Apple’s plans – has revealed why he thinks the US technology firm will adopt a feature called “bilateral” wireless charging in this year’s iPhone range.

Similar to the Mate 20 Pro, this battery bonus would allow Apple users to refill other phones and accessories using their iPhone.

To add fuel to this rumour, Apple is also expected to reveal some new AirPods this year which could offer wireless charging capabilities.

If this all becomes a reality it would mean these headphones could be placed on the new iPhone for an instant refill.

A similar update is expected from Samsung with the firm likely to reveal its Galaxy Buds on Wednesday which could also be charged via the new S10 phone.

With so many new devices launching in 2019 it could be an interesting year and Huawei may have to introduce some new innovations if it wants to stay ahead of its rivals.a
