Allen is a five-time Emmy winning TV producer and host, and has been one of the cast members of The Morning Blend on ABC10 since 2016.
Over the weekend he posted a photo of himself to Instagram, in the UK at Pinewood studios – where Star Wars 9 has recently wrapped filming.
“MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Made it to Pinewood for behind the scenes STARWARS IX with only hours to spare!!!” he captioned the post.
But scrolling down through the comments, he appeared to let slip when exactly the full title will be out in the open.
A fan commented: “When are we getting something EPIX? Don’t just say soon. When?!”
He responded: “title 5/4.”
Going by US date formats, that could be as late as May 4 – known recently as Star Wars Day (May the Fourth Be With You).
If he’s using date formats better-known to UK followers, that would of course be April 5 – and ensure the title is dropped ahead of Star Wars Celebration in mid-April.
Allen’s claims have been met with immediate scepticism by his followers, with the initial commenter responding: “I’m confused. On your most recent post, you said you were ‘embargoed’. So…are you just giving false info because you can’t tell us? What’s going on? Straight answers, please :)”.
Someone else replied: “there’s no way you would know that, let alone be allowed to leak it…”; while a third accused him of “trolling”.
What also doesn’t quite add up is the mounting claims that a teaser trailer is imminent. Would that really be released without the title attached to it?
It seems that, as ever, the only thing fans can do is wait and see.
