Square Enix news: Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Kingdom Hearts 3 Switch, Avengers game

Square Enix news starts today with the latest on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Once again the Final Fantasy 7 Remake has topped a readers’ poll of the most anticipated games on the horizon.

In the latest issue of legendary Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake was once again voted the most anticipated upcoming game.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake received almost double the amount of votes that the second placed game – Devil May Cry 5 – had.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake fans will be hoping 2019 is the year more information gets revealed now that Tetsuya Nomura has finished Kingdom Hearts 3.

Nomura-san has been busy readying Kingdom Hearts 3, but now that’s out he’ll be able to devote his full attention to the FF7 Remake.

Speaking towards the end of last year, the FF7 Remake director said: “Perhaps not everyone is aware of this, but I am working on a remake of Final Fantasy VII.

“I’m focusing on Kingdom Hearts 3 at the moment, but once that’s done, I’ll be heading over there next.”

In other Square Enix news, fans hoping that Kingdom Hearts 3 gets ported over to the Nintendo Switch have been dealt a blow.

Speaking recently, Nomura-san told Famitsu that a Nintendo Switch version of Kingdom Hearts 3 is not in development.

But he left the door open and said Sora’s latest adventure is “possible to release” on the hit hybrid console.

However, now cold water has been poured on this idea.

Game Informer’s senior editor Imran Khan said the chances of getting a Switch port of Kingdom Hearts 3 was not looking too good.

As reported in a post by Digital Trends, Khan said: “Last I heard, there was a talk between Nintendo and Square Enix about what they could do with Kingdom Hearts 3.

“It was deemed unfeasible to get Kingdom Hearts 3 on the Switch.”

Khan added Kingdom Hearts 3 was seen as “very demanding”, but ports of the HD re-releases of previous games in the series for the Switch was possible.

And finally, Square Enix news is rounded up with the latest on the mysterious Avengers project.

The Square Enix Avengers game was revealed back in 2017, but since then no new information has been revealed on the title.

However, a new hire could indicate that more information could be coming.

As revealed in a post by the Daily Star, a new marketing hire for the Avengers project has been announced.

Andy Wong – who previously worked on community management for the Street Fighter seres – has been hired by Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics.

Wong has been appointed as the Community and Social Media Manager for the Avengers Project.

This may indicate Square Enix are getting ready to start ramping up promotion of the Avengers game.

Last week Wong tweeted: “Today was my first day at Crystal Dynamics where I’ll be the Community and Social Media Manager on The Avengers Project.

“My inner Marvel fan boy is beyond excited!”
