Sheridan Smith: Cleaning Up star 'in tears' as she 'struggles with workload' after drama

The 37-year-old singer and actress was upset about what to do as she struggled with her heavy workload, according to The Sun. “Sheridan has been in tears over what she should do,” a source told the publication. The insider said Sheridan Smith was inundated with offers of acting work after Cleaning Up. “She loves her music but TV work is incredibly important to her,” they said. “Plus she’s been so busy she’s been struggling to find time to start putting together the shows properly.”

According to the source, Sheridan chose to postpone her seven-date tour, which was due to begin next month, because she was concerned fans would be disappointed with the shows.

The star is said to have organised to reschedule the dates for later this year, around Christmas time.

The report comes after the publication claimed Sheridan was struggling to sell tickets to her A Northern Soul Tour.

Last month, The Sun said she had sold just one third of the 3,750 seats in the Bonus Arena in Hull, while the O2 Arena had closed off the upper seating area in order to fill the bottom half instead.

At the time, a source told the publication: “The size of the venues was ambitious this time around and some have been harder to sell than others.

“Bosses hope that it picks up in the next few weeks.”

Cleaning Up concluded last week and centred around single mother Sam (played by Sheridan) who suffered from a gambling addiction.

The night cleaner ended up getting herself caught up in the illegal practise of insider trading in the six-part drama.

In recent months, Sheridan has spoken openly about finding happiness again after suffering a “massive meltdown” after the death of her father in December 2016.

Colin died nine months after being diagnosed with cancer.

In ITV documentary Coming Home, which saw Sheridan return to her hometown of Doncaster for the first time since his death, she admitted: “I kind of lost it a bit after [my dad] died.

“I’ve come out the other side now and I need to get it all out through my music,” she added.

“Especially in public, it looks like I’ve moaned about everything with my Dad dying, but that’s not the case. I just had a massive meltdown.”

After struggling with a difficult period after her father’s death, Sheridan met insurance broker Jamie Horn, 28, in February last year.

Following a whirlwind romance, the pair confirmed their engagement, although she has said she has no plans to set a wedding date yet.

She told The Times: “We got engaged quickly, but we’re enjoying being engaged. It’s nice. There’s no rush for things like that.”
