Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: Cersei Lannister to sacrifice THIS to save Westeros?

The greatest battle in Game of Thrones history is set to take place in season 8 of the hit HBO drama series this April.

White Walkers threaten the future of Westeros and only one thing can stop the Night King (played by Vladimir Furdik) and his army, according to a fan of the show.

Surprisingly, Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) is the key to rescuing the seven kingdoms from the clutches of the White Walker leader.

Think back to season seven when in one episode Cersei revealed to her brother Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) she was pregnant with his baby.

At the time, most fans of the programme accused the villain of lying to convince Jaime to stay in King’s Landing with her.

But now one viewer has questioned whether Cersei’s pregnancy was real and insisted her child could end the war of two worlds.

On a Reddit forum, the user hinted Cersei could offer her unborn child to the Night King, in exchange for letting her rule Westeros.

It is common knowledge the White Walkers accept young babies as sacrifices, Craster (Robert Pugh) handed his sons over to them in season two.

Cersei is cruel, but she is known for her undying love for her children. Will she offer her child to the Night King?

Actress Lena Headey, who plays the Queen of King’s Landing, hinted her character would go to great lengths to retain her power.

She said: “We’ve seen [these characters] over such a long period of time, and with the subtleties of men’s weaknesses being exposed throughout, these women have risen over the course of this series.”

Speaking to The Sunday Times, she continued: “I really, genuinely love Cersei and you just have to admire a survivor like that.”

“She absolutely refuses to let go,” she declared.

Meanwhile, HBO boss Casey Bloys teased the final season and waded in on speculation surrounding the last series.

Discussing scenes from the upcoming show, he insisted fans would be pleased with the final production.

Casey told TVLine: “Everything I have seen makes me very, very confident that this is a [season] fans are going to be very happy with.

“It is a dramatically and emotionally thrilling way to end the series.”

“I believe it all live up to the very high expectations,” the HBO programming chief added.

Fan favourites such as Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) will return to the series later this year.

Game of Thrones season 8 will return to HBO and Sky Atlantic on April 14. Seasons 1-7 are currently streaming on NOW TV.
