Fortnite update required TODAY: Patch notes news and Xbox One download issues

A new Fortnite update has been released today for the Xbox One platform.

Epic Games confirmed the news on their social media feeds, revealing that it was only for a select group of their players.

The good news is that this new patch has been released to fix problems introduced by an earlier update.

The bad news is that fans have had a few issues actually installing it.

Error messages have been popping telling fans they are required to update their game, without being allowed to perform the action.

Restarting Xbox One consoles is being reported as a possible workaround.

Another idea would be to find Fortnite in your games library, press the start button on it and choose to check for updates.

This should bring up the option to update Fortnite on the Xbox One, with a console restart probably required afterwards.

When it comes to what is included in the new Fortnite update, Epic Games has revealed exactly what it does.

Telling fans online: “We’ll be releasing a small client update tonight at 6pm ET to address stability with the Xbox platform. There will be no downtime for this update.”

This is likely connected with the FPS drops and performance issues flagged earlier today, following another small patch that was released.

Epic Games have also confirmed that they will be releasing another update this week, this time focused on content.

The 7.40 content update is scheduled to land tomorrow, February 19, and will include the new Driftboard item.

This is expected to be part of a new LTM that will be released following the update, which will not require downtime.
