WhatsApp is the most popular third-party messaging client in the world and is regularly updated by the firm, meaning new features and improvements are consistently introduced.
Before WhatsApp releases new upgrades to all users, it typically releases them for beta builds of the software.
The most recent beta for the programme has suggested WhatsApp is braced for a new setting that will prevent users from being added to group chats unless they accept an invitation.
One of the biggest annoyances of the software is surely when fans are added to group chats they do not want to be a part of.
WABetaInfo, an outlet that analyses early versions of WhatsApp, discovered the newest beta build for WhatsApp on iOS platforms flaunted the new feature.
The publication showed an image of the tool that demonstrated how it will work.
If the user heads to WhatsApp’s settings menu and the presses “privacy”, they will be taken to a page that allows for group options to be altered.
Once the “groups” button has been pressed, an option will be displayed that says “who can add me to groups”.
From there, the user then has three options.
They are:
• Everyone
• My contacts
• Nobody
This means in the near future WhatsApp fans should be able to select who is able to add them to group chats, or they can remove the functionality entirely.
It was noted if the user presses the “nobody” option, they will be sent invitations when someone wants to enter them into a group chat.
However, the WhatsApp fan will have the option to accept or deny the invitation before they are placed in the thread.
Although WABetaInfo did not clarify when the new function will be released, it did insist it will be available for iOS and Android platforms.
