ISIS jihadi bride Shamima Begum gives birth in Syria

The runway school girl’s family believe she has given birth in Syria. A statement released by their lawyer said: “We, the family of Shamima Begum, have been informed that Shamima has given birth to her child, we understand that both she and the baby are in good health.

“As yet we have not had direct contact with Shamima, we are hoping to establish communications with her soon so that we can verify the above.”

The family of the Jihadi bride have asked the government for custody of the child if she is able to return to the UK and given a prison sentence.

The 19-year-old from Bethnal Green was worried her child would be taken away from her if she does return to the country.

The teenager has not shown any remorse for leaving the UK in 2015 to join ISIS.

Ms Begum was one of three Bethnal Green Academy students who joined ISIS.

She married a young Dutch IS fighter called Yago Riedijk three weeks after she arrived in the country in 2015.

Shamima’s family have said: “As a British citizen, Shamima has every expectation to be returned to the UK and be dealt with under the British justice system.

“Shamima’s child who will also be British has every right as a total innocent to have the chance to grow up in the peace and security of his home.

“We welcome an investigation in what she did while she was there under the principles of British justice and would request the British government assist us in returning Shamima and her child to the UK as a matter of urgency.”

Home Secretary Sajid Javid has said he will “not hesitate” to prevent the return of the British teenager.

Security minister Ben Wallace said: “I’m not putting at risk British people’s lives to go and look for terrorists or former terrorists in a failed state.”
