Brian McFadden weight loss: Dancing on Ice star lost 7lbs in four weeks on THIS diet plan

For many stars, losing weight while starring on a celebrity TV competition is not uncommon. From Strictly Come Dancing to Dancing on Ice, the frequent and intensity of the training sessions can mean that some end up slimming. James Jordan and Gemma Collins, for example, have collectively lost an incredible four and a half stone since they joined this year’s line-up. Former Strictly Come Dancing professional James recently spoke about his trimmer figure recently, which saw him make a cheeky jibe at his co-star Brian McFadden.

Speaking to Eamonn Holmes during an interview on This Morning last week, the 40-year-old cheekily joked: “I’ve lost two-and-a-half stone, I think Brian took it off me!”

Meanwhile, Brian, 38, has not spoken about whether or not he has seen any changes in his weight since taking on the ice-skating challenge.

However, the former Westlife star has shed some light on how he stays in shape in the past.

In an unearthed interview with the Daily Mail back in 2015, he explained he sometimes followed a low-carbohydrate diet plan.

“Growing up as an Irishman, potatoes were our main ingredient, but people in this industry taught me that potatoes and rice are your enemy,” he claimed.

Brian went on to reflect on how around 10 years previously, he had teamed up with his bandmate Mark Feehily, and the pair had sought out low-carbohydrate meals.

“When I was 25, I began the Atkins diet with Mark,” he said.

“We’d have steak, eggs and bacon – all protein, though it wasn’t the real Atkins diet because I’d still eat vegetables, such as carrots. I’ve been on and off it for years.”

Brian went on to explain that while he won’t always follow it, he can sometimes shed a lot of weight.

“When I’m on it, I can lose up to half-a-stone in three or four weeks,” he explained.

“I’m eating normally now, but when I have work commitments, such as TV presenting, I’ll do zero carbs and high protein.”

The NHS website discusses the pros and cons of the Atkins diet, with the latter including initial side effects such as bd breath, a dry mouth, and tiredness.

Insomnia, nausea, and constipation may also be experienced by slimmers.

However, an advantage of this diet may be fast weight loss, which may be appealing and motivating for some.

While some people find the Atkins diet suits them, the NHS recommends slimmers follow a healthy, balanced diet.

This should be done alongside getting regular exercise.
