Pokemon Go Community Day countdown: Date, times, Stat boosts, Shiny news for Swinub event

Pokemon Go fans are counting down to the February Community Day event.

The latest Community Day event takes place on February 16. It has a 10am UK start time and ends three hours later at 1pm GMT.

Swinub is the star of the show, which is handy if you’re yet to catch a Piloswine.

Better yet, Niantic plans to introduce Mamoswine into the mix, complete with an exclusive move.

If you evolve Piloswine into Mamoswine during Community Day hours, then your new Pokemon will know the exclusive Ancient Power move.

The only downside is that you’ll need a Sinnoh Stone for the evolution to work.

“For the first time, evolve Piloswine with a Sinnoh Stone during or up to one hour after Community Day to obtain a Mamoswine that knows the Rock-type move Ancient Power, a Pokemon GO Community Day exclusive!” Niantic tweets.

Needless to say, catching and evolving rare Pokemon isn’t the only reason to take part in Community Day.

Lures will last for the duration of the event, so it’s worth saving any spare you might have.

It’s also good news if you’re low on Stardust for those Pokemon trades. You’ll get triple the Stardust for every catch, but only during Community Day hours.

Needless to say, fans will also be able to capture a shiny Swinub during Community Day.

And Niantic is planning to introduce a new feature to Trainer Battles as part of the February Community Day event.

Announced in a recent blog post, certain Charge Attacks can trigger stat boosts during battles.

“Starting this Saturday during Swinub Community Day, certain Charge Attacks will have a chance to trigger stat boosts in Trainer Battles,” Niantic explains.

“These stat boosts will persist on the affected Pokemon until they either faint or are switched out of battle.”

Ancient Power, for example, will have a chance of raising a user’s attack and defence. This also applies to Ominous Wind and Silver Wind.
