With the impending launch of the Samsung Galaxy S10, it seems now is a very good time to buy a Galaxy S9.
This current flagship is now more affordable than ever with some retailers selling it at a huge discount.
In fact, you can pick up this device for just £574 on Amazon’s site and there’s some good deals on contract with prices starting from under £25 per month.
Retailers such as mobiles.co.uk have the S9 starting from £23 which includes 3GB of data, 1,000 minutes and unlimited texts.
As well as being reduced in price, Samsung has recently pushed out its Android 9 Pie upgrade which refreshes the on-screen look and adds some new features such as Navigation Gestures.
Although it’s only just been released, Samsung already appears to be refreshing this software with a new update.
Spotted by SamMobile, the new patch to Android 9 Pie adds some improvements and added security.
Perhaps the biggest change arrives in the form of being able to set when you’d like the Night mode to be switched on.
Night mode turns the screen black which makes viewing the display in the evening much easier on the eye.
Currently, you have to toggle this theme on or off but it seems this patch now allows users to automatically set it to come on at certain times.
This scheduling option is added alongside better Wi-Fi range plus there’s improved stability for NFC, email and gestures.
This update appears to be rolling out for those running 9 Pie in Germany with more countries likely to get these changes in the coming weeks.
The news of this Galaxy S9 upgrade comes as Samsung readies itself for its major Unpacked event next week.
Taking place in San Francisco and London, this is where the Korean firm will reveal its next-generation Galaxy S10.
Although not confirmed we are expecting to see three new phones unveiled including a cheaper S10e, standard S10 and larger S10 Plus.
New features that may arrive on these devices include a triple rear camera, faster processor and a fully edge-to-edge screen.
It’s also likely that an embedded fingerprint scanner will be included along with a technology called reverse wireless charging which will refill other devices simply by touching them.
