Stacey Dooley: Strictly star addresses horror over knicker flash 'I imagined the worst’

Stacey Dooley, 31, has recently wrapped up her nationwide stage show on the Strictly Come Dancing Live! tour alongside her dancer partner Aljaž Škorjanec, 28. Now the documentary-filmmaker opened up her about her memorable wardrobe malfunction which caught the attention of the BBC viewers as she revealed she “imagined the worst” once she was aware of the mishap. Speaking in an interview with The Times magazine, the Glitterball winner divulged: “The wardrobe girls were like, ‘Oh s**t, Stacey. Sorry. You flashed,’ so I imagined the worst and thought my whole f***y had been out. “But then I watched it back and it was just the leotard, and I can live with that. Live telly, eh? What a dream!”

Stacey’s admission comes after she stunned viewers when she accidentally exposed her knickers to millions of viewers, during her Paso Doble routine with her dance partner Kevin Clifton, 36, last year in the show final.

The journalist has not been able to live it down after she suffered a similar problem during her live performance on tour in Manchester, last month.

During her routine with Aljaž, her skirt fell down revealing her underwear to the audience.

The star immediately pulled up her garment and laughed while her dance partner looked on in amusement.

Following the major blunder, she seemingly appeared to see the funny side as she took to Twitter to address the malfunction.

In view of her 263,000 followers, she wrote: “I’m clearly desperate for a knicker campaign/contract.”

Fans clearly thought it was hilarious after she got herself caught up in a knicker flash mishap again, as one person quipped: “Use code STACEY20 for 20 per cent off knickers.”

Another person said: “Dealt with like a true pro! For that fact alone you deserved a win this afternoon (plus two brilliant dances). You got 10s from us!”

While a third person added: “Lovely pins though. Flash them girl!”

Meanwhile, her dance partner Aljaž has revealed a bizarre tactic he used on the tour to make Stacey feel “comfortable.”

When asked about rehearsing with Stacey before the tour ended, he said: “We’ve practised loads.

“I’m trying to get as close to Kevin as I possibly can be – I’m even practising my Grimsby accent to make Stacey feel comfortable!

“She’s a beautiful girl and a dream to work with.”

Speaking to New! magazine, the pro admitted he had no intention of replacing his Grimsby co-star Kevin.

He told the publication: I’m really excited, but I’m absolutely not replacing Kevin – he’s irreplaceable.

“There’s only one Kevin from Grimsby and one Aljaž from Slovenia, so it’s going to stay that way.”
