Fans of Riverdale season three will have to wait a fortnight to watch episode 13, titled Requiem for a Welterweight.
The next show will air on February 27 on CW and the following day on Netflix in the UK, as the series takes a mid-season break.
Many shows on the TV network CW now take multiple breaks of weeks or more in between episodes.
However, the structural change has infuriated viewers, many of whom expected the latest instalment of the series to be released today.
Fans of the show have taken to social media to question the postponing of new episodes.
Raging on Twitter, one person asked: “What is going on with Riverdale this season? They just play new episodes whenever they feel like it I guess.”
Another fan added: “I look forward to Riverdale every Wednesday so why the heck isn’t it on tonight?”
A third commentator shared: “I just got so let down going to watch Riverdale. I thought there was a new episode today, but I guess not.”
Someone else tweeted: “Totally thought Riverdale was on tonight. I got all ready to go watch and at 8 o’clock it started playing scenes I recognised from earlier in the season… very sad right now.”
Clearly angry, a fifth user posted an expletive-laden tweet: “I’m p****d season 3 [episode 13] still ain’t on Netflix it’s a f*****g February.”
Meanwhile, somebody else remarked: “I was trying to catch up on Riverdale, like what is going on.”
It is said Riverdale takes a number of breaks during the course of the season to ensure the show runs between October and May.
Another possible reason for the delays are to enable Riverdale’s cast and crew to film and edit upcoming episodes.
Often with shows like Riverdale shooting still takes place even after the premiere show and filming can take a week in some cases.
Episode 12 of Riverdale, titled Bizarrodale saw Jughead Jones’s (Cole Sprouse) mother Gladys Jones (Gina Gershon) revealed as Hermione Lodge’s (Marisol Nichols) secret buyer.
Gladys revealed herself to Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) and her beau Reggie Mantle (Ross Butler) when they met with her to hand over some money.
During the meeting, Gladys agreed to a temporary payment with the pair, but insisted the duo keep their agreement to themselves.
Later in the episode, Gladys took daughter Jellybean (Trinity Likins) to Jughead and FP’s (Skeet Ulrich) home, where they announced they would be staying in town.
But the show ended on a sour note, with Gladys telling her daughter their plan to take over Riverdale was working.
