Happy Death Day 2U end credits scene: Mid-credits sequence EXPLAINED – big sequel hint?

The film has had very divided reviews from critics – with The Guardian, for example, issuing only one star; while Empire gave four. It’s had a 64% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and follows the success of the 2017 original – which raked in $125.5 million at the box office. Will there be another film after this sequel? The end credits scene certainly teases the possibility.

Yes, there is a mid-credits sequence on the film – so those who enjoyed it will want to stick around.

In the scene, the characters are picked up by DARPA (the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), who have acquired Sissy (the Sisyphus Quantum Cooling Reactor), which during the course of the film has been instrumental in looping time.

DARPA want to use it to trap people in deliberate time loops – and Tree suggests Danielle as the test subject.

So does this indicate that a third movie could be on the cards?

Rothe told ScreenRant of the new offering: “In the original film on the Blu-ray extras, if you get the DVD I died originally in the movie and we ended up rewriting the ending and changing the whole thing.

“And so Chris called… and was like, ‘I have a crazy idea for a sequel’. And when he told me about it, I was like, ‘you’re the only person insane enough to try it, but if you’re game I’m game, I’m there’.

“And I was just so impressed and amazed at how he completely turned the plot on its head and you think you know what’s going on and what’s coming, but you’re kept on your toes at every single moment and it’s just bigger and better and funnier and more heartbreaking and scarier than the first one.”

Happy Death Day 2U is out now.
