Kevin Clifton: Strictly Come Dancing star’s sister Joanne Clifton hints he'll QUIT show

Kevin Clifton, 36, won his first Strictly Come Dancing series last year with his celebrity partner Stacey Dooley, 31.

The professional dancer is now currently performing in the Rock of Ages tour up and down the country.

His sister, Joanne Clifton, who won Strictly Come Dancing with Ore Oduba in 2016, revealed he decided to appear in theatre after being inspired by her.

The star left the BBC One series after lifting the Glitterball trophy to pursue her career on stage and is now performing in The Rocky Horror Show, with Joanne hinting he could follow her lead.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Joanne spilled: “Kevin said he got his inspiration from me to go into musicals.

“He always thought he would be a dancer and stuff, choreographing, then he said he saw the path that I took when I left Strictly and saw how happy I was on the stage and said he wants to feel that happiness.”

Joanne, 35, added: “He saw how happy I was and was like, ‘Oh I want to be that happy too!’”

Despite Kevin’s theatre ambitions, Joanne, who is performing at the New Wimbledon Theatre in the Rocky Horror Show this week, said she thinks he will be back for the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.

When asked whether Kevin will return to the BBC One competition, Joanne replied: “I reckon so, unless he has the same kind of feeling as me.

“I don’t think he will. He absolutely loved it this year and said he’s fallen back in love with dancing.”

Joanne continued: “We’ve been dancing since we were four and five, that’s why I wanted to take a different direction.

“So I think he will be back, he’s a favourite as well isn’t he.”

Joanne admitted she has no plans to return to Strictly Come Dancing herself but teased: “Never say never.”

“I’m happy right now on the stage,” she divulged. “I love singing, I love acting.”

The Grimsby-born beauty revealed she’s enjoying showing off her other talents on the stage.

The professional went on: “In Rocky Horror, there’s very little dancing in it for me, my character.

“I just do the Time Warp and I’m enjoying that! It’s a role where I can’t rely on my dancing.”

Joanne added: “I’m absolutely loving it. Think it’s the most fun thing I’ve ever done.”

Strictly Come Dancing is expected to return to BBC One later this year.
