Jeff Hordley: ‘We’re an embarrassment’ Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle makes admission about wife

Emmerdale actor Jeff Hordley, 48, candidly admitted while some children may think it’s cool to have famous parents, the couple’s children Violet, 14, and Stan, 10, are very much left red-faced when the actors are approached for selfies by fans. Speaking on Loose Women back in October, panelist Jane Moore quizzed Jeff about how his children feel about having two parents in one of Britain’s biggest soaps. He replied: “They don’t watch it. “I think we are like any other parent; we are an embarrassment to them.”

Jane continued: “And in public you must get double the recognition really…”

He replied: “Yeah, I do remember there was this one time with my son in Tesco… it was quite a few aisles away and they were like ‘Can I have a picture?’

“It does happen occasionally, but this time it just seemed like a really terrible day.”

He then demonstrated his son’s reaction, putting his head into his hands adding: “I looked round and my son was just like that on the trolley. And he always references that day.”

During his appearance on the show, the Cain Dingle star also revealed what he gets up to away from the show.

Nadia Sawalha quizzed him about a hobby, to which he replied: “My allotment, it’s great, we have done it for years.”

Carol McGiffin then quizzed if he eats the vegetables he grows to which he confirmed he did.

Elaborating, he said: “It’s good for us to grow it.

“I have Crohn’s disease, so I find eating from what we’ve grown is a good thing for me.”

Elsewhere, Emmerdale viewers have been led to believe Cain didn’t kill Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) back in October at the Masquerade Ball.

Cain punched the young businessman, which led him to fall to the floor and hit his head on a rock.

Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) witnessed the encounter and scooped him into his car after pronouncing him dead.

In recent episodes, Cain has claimed punching Joe was an accident in a heat of the moment reaction.

But what if his action really did result in death?

Many fans have shared their thoughts on the encounter on Twitter.

One user tweeted: “Maybe Cain really did kill Joe. We don’t know for sure.”

Another added: “If Cain actually did kill Joe, then I’m happy it was Joe and not Robert #Emmerdale #Robron.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV.
