Yesterday movie TRAILER: Imagine if everyone FORGOT The Beatles except for one guy – WATCH

What if The Beatles were forgotten the world over, but just one guy remembered them? That’s the premise of the new rom-com from writer Richard Curtis and director Danny Boyle. The official synopsis reads: “Yesterday, everyone knew The Beatles. Today, only Jack remembers their songs. He’s about to become a very big deal.”

It continues: “Jack Malik (Himesh Patel) is a struggling singer-songwriter in a tiny English seaside town whose dreams of fame are rapidly fading, despite the fierce devotion and support of his childhood best friend, Ellie (Lily James).

“Then, after a freak bus accident during a mysterious global blackout, Jack wakes up to discover that The Beatles have never existed … and he finds himself with a very complicated problem, indeed.

“Performing songs by the greatest band in history to a world that has never heard them, and with a little help from his steel-hearted American agent, Debra (Kate McKinnon), Jack’s fame explodes.

“But as his star rises, he risks losing Ellie — the one person who always believed in him. With the door between his old life and his new closing, Jack will need to get back to where he once belonged and prove that all you need is love.”

He added: “I could see that if it was something they both really believed in, that they might do something like that. But I don’t think it’s necessary really. The idea of a Beatles reunion is a myth. It’s just been so long, there is no Beatles left really, particularly with John and George dead.”

And that’s exactly what Sir Paul did on Sir Ringo’s latest solo album Give More Love. Sir Paul played bass on a couple of the tracks of the 2017 album and sung backing vocals.

Of course, The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee isn’t far away in 2022, so perhaps that would be the perfect time for the pair to team up in a Beatles reunion once again.

Yesterday will be released in UK cinemas on June 28, 2019.
