Kevin Durant CANNOT join New York Knicks for THIS reason – NBA expert

That is the view of NBA legend Reggie Miller.

Durant, who is set to become a free agent this summer, has been tipped to ditch the Warriors for the Knicks.

The back-to-back NBA Finals Most Valuable Player has a player option on his contract for next year and is expected to opt out of the deal and become a free agent.

If he does, he is expected to be subject to offers from the Knicks, the LA Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers.

However, Miller believes that Durant should stay with the Warriors so that he avoids the media pressure.

The star recently went a week without talking to media after speculation linking him with the Knicks.

When he did eventually speak, he was involved in a heated spat with reporters and told one journalist in particular to ‘grow up’.

And Durant’s handling of media scrutiny is the reason that Miller believes Durant should stay.

“We all think in our heyday we can turn anything around,” He said.

“But here’s my question: If he gets a little surly and upset by what an Athletic writer wrote something about him, if he has a couple of bad games in New York under that microscope, he’s really going to be upset.

“He has to factor in everything when you think about joining the New York Knicks, the No. 1 media market in the world and in our game.

“You can’t be upset with the media when you’re back-to-back NBA champions and Finals MVPs, and you think the kitchen is hot now, you think joining the Knicks the expectations aren’t going to follow.

“There’s a lot that comes with it.

“You have to factor in the lifestyle, the winning, and I am sure KD does think, ‘Yeah, I can turn this franchise around.’

“But there are expectations that come with that, and you know how the New York media can be.

“He’s going to have to understand what it’s all about if he goes that route.”
