Gmail is Google’s email programme that is used for personal and work purposes across the world.
Google has always boasted of the software’s security features that prevent against the likes of spam, phishing messages and malware.
In fact, the firm claims Gmail currently blocks more than 99 percent of these kinds of messages.
But recently the American tech giant discussed a host of new technologies that have been introduced to Gmail that are powered by its own open-source machine learning framework, TensorFlow.
It was declared the new features being employed mean Gmail is now blocking an extra 100million spam messages for users every day.
Discussing the new change, Google said: “Good security means constantly staying ahead of threats, and our existing machine learning models are highly effective at doing this—in conjunction with our other protections, they help block more than 99.9 percent of spam, phishing, and malware from reaching Gmail inboxes.
“Just as we evolve our security protections, we also look to advance our machine learning capabilities to protect you even better.
“That’s why we recently implemented new protections powered by TensorFlow, an open-source machine learning (ML) framework developed at Google.
“These new protections complement existing ML and rules-based protections, and they’ve successfully improved our detection capabilities. With TensorFlow, we are now blocking around 100 million additional spam messages every day.”
But it appears Google is not short of good news with regard to Gmail.
In fact, the firm has recently announced a new overhaul that will give the right-click more functionality than ever before.
Currently, right-clicking on an email only allows users to archive, mark as unread or delete.
However, the improvement will add a swathe of new options that range from reply to mute.
A full list of the new tools, as noted by Google, are the following:
• Reply
• Forward
• Archive
• Delete
• Mark as unread
• Snooze
• Move to
• Label as
• Mute
Right-clicking also lets users find emails from the same contact or about the same subject.
Plus, it will also let fans expand the message clicked into a new window if they desire.
The new Gmail feature is expected to start arriving for all users from February 22.
