Brexit movie: Who should play Theresa May? THIS star topped UK poll

On March 29, the UK is set to leave the European Union. And with all the drama in politics at the moment, surely a Brexit movie is on the cards? There’s already been Benedict Cumberbatch’s The Uncivil War charting how Vote Leave won the referendum, but what about a film focused on Prime Minister May’s struggles to deliver Brexit? Well Meerkat Movies have polled 3000 Brits asking who they’d like to see play her in a Brexit movie, and Mirren came out on top. Here’s the top eight actresses:

1. Helen Mirren (17%)
2. Emma Thompson (13%)
3. Meryl Streep (9%)
4. Judi Dench/Julie Walters (8%)
5. Maggie Smith (6%)
6. Tilda Swinton (5%)
7. Glenn Close (4%)

The Luther star topped the poll with 20% of the vote, while Tom Hardy was a close second on 17%.

After the top two, there was a big drop in the vote, with third place going to Tom Hiddleston on 7%.

Other favourites included Jude Law, Richard Madden, Henry Cavill and Damian Lewis.

Despite all the speculation, auditions won’t be happening anytime soon since Daniel Craig only starts shooting his final Bond movie next month.
