Black Ops 4 UPDATE: Patch notes news for Call of Duty Valentine's event

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is about to get a big update on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The new Black Ops update will lay foundations for this week’s Valentine’s event.

In a new post on Twitter, Black Ops 4 developer Treyarch outlined some early patch notes and plans for the game.

The February 12 update will usher in the Arms Race multiplayer deathmatch mode on PS4.

This new game mode increases scores for each kill, resulting in more scorestreaks.

Then there’s the Close Quarters Frenzy mode in Blackout, which limits available weapons and increases the speed of the collapse.

Unfortunately, however, this is also exclusive to PlayStation 4.

Today’s major Call of Duty update will also coincide with a preview of new content coming soon.

The Valentine’s Day event, meanwhile, kicks off on February 14 and runs through until next Tuesday.

The event rewards players with additional XP, Merits and Plasma in the Black Ops 4’s different game modes.

Treyarch explains more on Twitter: “Celebrate Valentine’s Day Weekend with a Quad Feed!

“Starting Feb. 14, earn 2XP and 2X Weapon XP in MP and Zombies, 2X Merits in Blackout, and 2X Nebulium Plasma in Zombies through 10am PT Feb. 19.”‘

Elsewhere, Treyarch has released a new teaser for Blackout Battle Royale.

In a new video post on Twitter, a blueprint is shown of the Blackout map, complete with different crosses.

The video ends with a big cross being drawn on the lower east side of the map.
