Hugh Jackman ‘to open Brit Awards with The Greatest Showman musical number’

On February 20, next week the Brit Awards take place and apparently a surprise star will open the ceremony. According to The Sun, an insider has revealed that Jackman is being flown over especially to perform a song from The Greatest Showman. A source said: “Brits bosses did everything they could to sign up Hugh. He may not be as cool as the younger stars performing on the night, but he will certainly be the most popular.”

Meanwhile, Jackman has celebrated his first Grammy win in an Instagram post.

The 50-year-old was unable to attend last night’s Grammys but celebrated The Greatest Showman’s win from a living room.

He filmed the moment he won the award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media over Call Me By Your Name, Deadpool 2, Lady Bird and Stranger Things.

The actor was seen cheering in celebration with his wife Debora-Lee Furness.

The Greatest Showman’s soundtrack has seen incredible success since it was released in December 2017.

Aside from being the best-selling album of 2018, it is only the second in 30 years to spend 11 consecutive weeks at No 1.

The Greatest Showman is also the longest-running soundtrack at No 1 in 50 years.

The album has sold over 5.3 million copies worldwide and recently beat The Beatles’ St Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
