Coronation Street spoilers: Roy Cropper’s grief to result in tragic death?

Roy’s (played by David Neilson) mum Sylvia Goodwin (Stephanie Cole) died recently and he has been battling with his grief.

The cafe owner and his mother had a complicated relationship at times and her death has hit the Coronation Street resident hard.

Roy has no family left on the ITV soap but his good friend Carla Connor (Alison King) has been a source of support.

She will continue to be a rock to Roy, however, she notices some unusual developments in Roy’s behaviour.

Carla spies her friend sleepwalking at night and so rushes to his aid.

She sits Roy down and naturally he is confused about his nocturnal actions.

Although he is able to get help from Carla, she won’t be there when he does something unintentionally awful.

Roy will be responsible for the boat fire that puts Simon Barlow’s (Alex Bain) life in danger.

During another bout of sleepwalking, Roy will wander over to where Peter Barlow’s (Chris Gascoyne) boat is.

He ends up knocking over a paraffin lamp which sets the vessel alight while the youngster is trapped inside.

Spoiler photos have revealed Peter looking on in horror at the roaring flames as the other Coronation Street residents gather round.

But will Simon survive the fire?

Even if he does, it will no doubt have a major effect on Roy who will be left with feelings of guilt over the situation.

Roy may have other matters to contend with as well after he discovered a mysterious ring left among his mother’s possessions.

An engraving left on the jewellery could point toward a huge family secret.

The inscription on the ring read: ”R.P 01.03.59 Rhea.”

As a result, some fans think Roy could have a long-lost sibling.

“Roy has a sister that was given away as a baby??” one questioned on Twitter.

Another wrote: “Roy has a secret sister I bet.”

“Roy has a sister?” a third asked.

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
