Rachel Weisz: The Favourite star reveals BAFTAs 2019 red carpet was 'SHUT DOWN'

The 48-year-old star, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the BAFTAs 2019 for her role in The Favourite, joined Dermot O’Leary on the red carpet to talk about the bash and her part in the hit movie. “Time’s a’ ticking!” Dermot greeted the brunette beauty, who turned heads in a stunning ivory gown. “I know, I know,” she said. “The red carpet got shut down for ages.” The presenter then asked: “Where were you? Were you just doing laps?”

“I was in the car down there waiting!” she explained.

Express.co.uk has contacted representatives for the BAFTAs 2019 asking for comment.

It is possible entry to the red carpet was put on pause for security reasons while the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made their entrance.

President of BAFTA Prince William, 36, and Kate Middleton, 37, arrived around the same time Rachel was interviewed.

Rachel posed for photographers in a pretty off-white frock which featured delicate layers tulle and ruffles along the neckline.

The skirt had dramatic tiers and the British actress emphasised her slim waist with a sparkling belt.

She accessorised with a silver clutch bag and earrings, adding a touch of Old Hollywood glamour with dark pink lipstick and subtle smokey eyes.

The royal couple looked glamorous in a classic monochrome combination, with Kate showcasing her slender figure in a dazzling white frock.

The floor-length number boasted an asymmetric neckline with a single sleeve embellished with white floral detailing.

Meanwhile, Prince William opted for a stylish black suit with a bow-tie.

Also turning heads on the red carpet at the BAFTAs 2019 was The Favourite star Olivia Colman.

The 45-year-old actress, who plays Queen Anne in the new biographical comedy drama, looked stylish in a black and white dress with a statement train.

She wore her cropped brunette locks in a sleek pixie ‘do while highlighting her shapely curves in the figure-hugging ensemble.

Olivia is nominated for the Leading Actress award at tonight’s BAFTAs and is going up against Lady Gaga, 32, for A Star is Born, Glenn Close, 71, for The Wife, Melissa McCarthy, 48, for Can You Ever Forgive Me? and Viola Davis, 53, for Windows.

Rachel, meanwhile, is nominated for Best Supporting Actress alongside Amy Adams, 44, for her role in Vice, Emma Stone, 30, for The Favourite, Margot Robbie, 28, for Mary Queen of Scots and Claire Foy, 34, for First Man.

The BAFTA Awards 2019 air tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
