PS Plus FREE GAME: Great PlayStation Plus news for PS4 gamers

PS4 games that don’t require an active PlayStation Plus subscription are not as common as you might think.

And that is certainly true for the multiplayer types that require a constant online connection.

However, surprise news this week confirms that a new PS Plus free game is available to download and enjoy without the need for an active subscription.

Many by now would have heard of Apex Legends, the new Battle Royale experience from Respawn Entertainment.

Set in the Titanfauniverseere, it’s been confirmed that the new free-to-play game is proving popular with fans.

And EA has also revealed that Apex Legends does not require a PS Plus subscription to enjoy on PS4.

A new FAQ page on the game confirms this, while also revealing that you do need an Xbox Live Gold subscription on Xbox One.

“No, you do not need PlayStation® Plus to play Apex Legends on PlayStation 4, Yes, you need an Xbox Live Gold account to play Apex Legends on Xbox One,” the message reads.

The good news for those who do have a PS Plus account and are enjoying Apex Legends is that there is a free pack that can be downloaded as part of your subscription.

PlayStation Plus subscriber can head over to the PS Store and add the free bundle to their accounts whenever they want.

“Show up in the Apex Arena ready to play with the PlayStation Plus Play Pack,” the official PS Store description reads.

“This collection of exclusive content will trick specific weapons and Legends out in PlayStation-inspired gear.”

The pack includes six items in total, all of which are cosmetic and don’t provide any kind of advantage in-game.

This includes two exclusive PlayStation-themed weapon camos for the Flatline & RE45, one exclusive character camo each for Gibraltar and Bloodhound and one banner each for both Gibraltar and Bloodhound.

It’s a great starter pack for a new game that is sure to win a dedicated fanbase in the weeks to come.

And it’s not the only new bonus currently available to enjoy on PS4.

As an added bonus for dropping PS Vita and PS3 games, Sony has expanded PS4 cloud storage, which has been boosted from 10GB to 100GB.

With cloud storage, you can save your game progress and character profiles on one system, and then continue the game on another system later without losing progress.

“Expanded 100GB cloud storage is rolling out now to PS Plus members,” reads a Sony post. “Enjoy 10 times more cloud storage for all those PS4 game saves!”

PS Plus subscribers can also download the new range of Free PS4 games currently available from the PlayStation Store.

This includes online brawler For Honor and Hitman: The Complete First Season, which makes for quite the PlayStation lineup.

It should be noted that the content you have downloaded as part of your PlayStation Plus subscription at no charge is only accessible as long as you are an active subscriber.

The exceptions are free themes and avatars, which you will continue to have access to, even if you are no longer a subscriber.

Anything you have purchased (even if you bought it at a discount) will remain available to you even if your subscription ends.

Also, different countries have different rights, release schedules and, have different things available on their PlayStation Store for this reason.

So this is why you may hear about different games being available in Asia, Europe and North America when it comes to some PS Plus announcements.
