The Voice UK 2019: Jennifer Hudson leaves viewers in tears with unexpected performance

Coaches Jennifer Hudson, will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Olly Murs were having a break between acts when The Voice audience could be heard making a request.

“Jennifer sing!” the crowd could be heard cheering on the ITV contest.

But Jennifer implied she wasn’t ready as she exclaimed: “I feel so unprepared!”

will.i.am then got up to stand beside his chair and look toward Jennifer.

“What are you doing?” she asked.

He told her: “I’m checking to see I’m going to get the front row seat, you about to sing.”

“I don’t know what I’m going to sing…I want to sing Impossible Dream,” she said.

Jennifer then began to give a moving rendition of Impossible Dream and made her way onto the stage.

The Oscar winner belted out a powerful final note and the audience were completely thrilled by the performance as they cheered Jennifer.

But for some of those watching at home, it was a very emotionally powerful rendition and they were brought to tears.

Fans took to Twitter to share how it made them feel.

“I am crying go Jennifer #TheVoiceUk,” one wrote.

Another said: “Had a bit of an emotional day. Just turned on #thevoiceuk and heard JHud singing an now I’m crying like baby.”

“Actually brought tears to my eyes @IAMJHUD singing on #TheVoiceUK so powerful & emotional,” a third shared.

A fourth added: “Awwww how amazing is @IAMJHUD you’ve just got me bursting into tears with your singing on #TheVoiceUK you always full my heart with emotions hitting those notes thank you for being you.”

“#thevoiceuk Jhud just brought me to tears…. what a final note …,” a fifth wrote.

Elsewhere on the programme, Tom and Olly shared a cheeky moment after Olly joked about his colleague getting his collar fixed by his stylist.

Olly jested: “Bit of lipstick on the collar again, Tom?

“Can’t take him anywhere!”

Tom then joked: “It’s not my fault. I told you not to wear that shade, it goes all over my clothes.”

The Voice UK continues Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
