Galaxy S10 v iPhone XS – Why one of these flagships has a big advantage

All eyes will be on Samsung this month as the Korean technology firm unveils its all-new Galaxy S10 smartphone.

This latest device is rumoured to arrive packing a refreshed design, triple rear camera and a screen which fills the entire front of the phone.

Unlike many of its rivals, recently leaked images appear to show how Samsung will punch the front-facing camera through the screen rather than including a controversial notch.

We’re expecting to see three devices revealed at the Unpacked event on February 20 which may include a standard S10, cheaper S10E and larger S10 Plus.

Although all of these phones could arrive packing new features it’s the S10 Plus that looks the most exciting and powerful.

Rumours are rife that this flagship will arrive with a huge 4,000mAh battery, large 6.4-inch AMOLED screen, more RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage.

Although we won’t see the S10 Plus for another few weeks a recent speed test, posted online, appears to show just how fast it will be.

Samsung will probably include different processors depending on the region the phone is on sale and it seems one of these chips will be blisteringly fast.

The firm’s own Exynos 9820 chip appears to have been put through some intense GeekBench tests and, if true, the results look impressive with the S10 beating all of its Android rivals in single and multi-core test.

The Korean tech giant’s new flagship scored 10387 in the multi-core test and 4472 in the single core.

Although this is clearly good for Samsung fans there is also some bad news for this latest phone.

Whilst the S10 looks like a clear winner in the Android market this phone still can’t match Apple’s power.

The latest GeekBench scores still gives the iPhone XS Max top prize for speed with this phone scoring 11432 (multi-core) and 4777 ( single-core).

Apple’s latest phones all feature the new A12 Bionic brains which are regarded as the fastest currently available.

And even though the S10 is launching almost five months later than Apple’s phone it seems it can’t quite match its arch-rival.

We’ll have to wait and see how fast these new phones really are when they launch and Express.co.uk will be at Samsung’s Unpacked event on February 20 to bring you all the news live as it happens.
