Carol Kirkwood: 'This sounds scary' fans fear for BBC Breakfast star amid 'weather bomb'

Carol Kirkwood left worried fans fearing for her safety when she informed them about the most recent development in the UK weather forecast. The 56-year-old let her 149,000 Twitter followers know a “weather bomb” would hit the nation today, as she cautioned them about blustery winds. Her post read: “This highlights how windy it will be tomorrow. Pressure drops by 24mb in 24 hours in a ‘weather bomb’ or ‘explosive cyclogenesis’ event. “The low pressure coming out way tonight/tomorrow is dropping 40mb in 24 hours!”

The BBC Breakfast presenter’s statement startled some of her fans, with a few urging the weather reporter to stay safe.

One person tweeted: “Keep safe, Carol,” while another asked: “Wow Carol! Will it be worse than last night in London? The wind was howling!”

A third fan wrote: “This sounds a bit scary what are we looking at?” as a fourth joked: “I better move me bin then!”

It comes after the radio presenter was left red-faced following a conversation with her BBC co-star Naga Munchetty.

Launching into one of her first weather reports of the day on February 7, Carol warned viewers the rest of the week would see a lot more gusts of wind.

While Carol described the gales as “so disruptive” presenter Naga jumped in to say: “Like you, isn’t it?”

Surprisingly, Carol chuckled, before announcing: “Haha, disruptive!? Oh, I love to be!”

The pair then broke out into a fit of laughter as Naga continued: “I know you do! And everyone thinks you’re so sweet and lovely.”

“If only they knew the truth, eh Carol?” the 43-year-old broadcaster continued.

Bemused by the continuing joke, Carol pointed at the camera and added: “Don’t you go telling anyone the truth now!”

“I won’t,” Naga declared. “No one heard, no one heard.”

Naga is not the first BBC Breakfast presenter to make a slick remark during a live broadcast, as Dan Walker recently made a cheeky comment about Sally Nugent.

As she gave her sports update, the host interjected: “Right, it’s 6.36am, Sally calm down, calm down.”

Snapping at the journalist, Sally hit back: “Don’t calm down it’s too exciting, the FA cup is too exciting!”

Sally then referenced the previous evening’s Newport County football match win.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
