Fortnite earthquake event Season 8 LIVE: How often are tremors and when is next one?

The Fortnite Season 8 countdown has well and truly begun, as Epic Games introduces the Earthquake event.

Earthquakes have started to hit the Fortnite map, after first leaking as part of the update 7.30 game files.

As you can see from the video below, the map starts shaking and rumbling can be heard when earthquakes hit.

Fortnite Insider speculates that the earthquakes will occur every hour or so, building up to the end of the season.

It’s also suggested that part of the island will break off during the transition between Season 7 and Season 8.

Leaked earthquake sound files show that tremors will come in small, medium and large varieties.

Another leak suggests that there will be 50 tremors in total.

We’ll update the story as more tremors hit the map and the next stage is introduced.

The earthquakes are also linked with the appearance of the Prisoner.

The Prisoner skin is rewarded for players who complete the weekly Snowfall challenges.

The twist, however, is that the Prisoner skin has four different stages, culminating with the Fire King variant.

The second stage of the skin was unlocked by finding a key north of Polar Peak, but only when wearing the Prisoner skin. The third stage is expected to drop with the Week 10 challenges.

In the meantime, fans can download content update 7.30.

Fortnite update 7.30 was announced by Epic Games on Twitter, alongside confirmation that the Foraged Campfire would make its debut this week.

The Foraged Campfires give players a place to heal with their squads when playing Battle Royale.

Bottle Rockets also make a return as part of update 7.30: “Fire and forget! Light the fuse and watch a stream of rockets barrage enemy locations with this new item.”

Elsewhere, the Boombox has been vaulted by Epic Games.
