Cristiano Ronaldo’s mum Dolores Aveiro has revealed she is ‘fighting for her life’ following new health problems. The mother-of-four was diagnosed with cancer in 2007, however she beat the disease. Discussing her new health woes, the restaurant owner said: “I was operated on another breast in Madrid, I’ve had radiotherapy. “Now, I’m fighting for my life.”
Speaking ahead of her trip to Italy to celebrate Cristiano’s 35th birthday, she also defended her son against rape claims.
In an interview with Portuguese TV station, she hit out at the footballer’s rape accuser Kathryn Mayorga over her allegations she was assaulted in a Las Vegas hotel in 2009.
“I have confidence in my son when it comes to what happened. When she went there, it wasn’t to play cards. It was to do something,” she said.
“I know the son I have.”
Dolores previously showed support for her son by posting a picture of Cristiano in a Superman cape on social media last October.
Alongside the image, she wrote: “I want to see who has the courage to put this photo on their profile for a week and make a chain for him.
“For Portugal, for him, for us and for the union of our people, for justice. He deserves it.”
The Juventus FC player’s sister Katia also posted the picture to her own Instagram account, with a message of support.
Translated from Portuguese the post included two hashtags, one read: “#Ronaldo, we are with you to the end and the other #Justicacr7 as #Justice for CR7.”
Cristiano is currently dating Georgina Rodriguez, a Spanish model, who is said to have worked for a family in Bristol, England.
The couple recently sparked engagement rumours when the brunette beauty was pictured sporting a sparkling diamond ring on her wedding finger.
A source told Portuguese tabloid Correio da Manha in 2018: “Cristiano has already asked Gio to marry him and the wedding will take place, but few people know the details.
“All that is known at the moment is that Gio has already tried on some wedding dresses.”
Cristiano and 25-year-old Georgina share a one-year-old daughter, named Alana Martina, together.
Their child is the sportsman’s fourth kid, he has Cristiano Jr, 8, as well as twins Eva and Mateo, which he had via surrogacy.
The athlete previously dated Russian model Irina Shayk, who is currently in a relationship with Hollywood actor and filmmaker Bradley Cooper.
