iPad update – Gmail and Google Docs are now even better on Apple's tablet

Back in October Apple held a hardware event in New York City where it unveiled new iPad Pro models.

The tablet arrived in 11 and 12.9-inch variants that each offer an all-screen design for fans to enjoy.

Moreover, the hardware also comes with a new industrial design that is subtle and oozes elegance.

Apple’s signature home button with Touch ID was removed from the device in favour of Face ID that exists on newer iPhone models.

This allows owners to unlock their tablet using facial recognition.

The new iPad Pro models are powered by Apple’s A12X Bionic chipset the firm claims offers supreme performance across its iOS 12 operating system.

We loved the new iPad Pro models at Express.co.uk, awarding the product five out of five stars in our full review.

Technology Editor David Snelling said: “The new iPad Pro is the tablet many have been waiting for.

“This is not a small update from Apple but a massive refresh that allows this device to do so much more than before.

“Apple’s new Pro offers supreme power which allows it to perform tasks you never thought possible on a tablet.

“The stunning new edge-to-edge display also means the overall size of the Pro is smaller and even more portable.”

While the iPad Pro’s new form factor meant native Apple applications took advantage of the added screen real estate, not all third-party developers immediately updated their software to do the same.

In particular Google’s Gmail, Google Docs and Google Sheets app featured black bars on both its top and bottom, meaning some of the iPad’s display was not harnessed.

The bars were present when using the apps in either portrait or landscape orientations.

However, the software trio have now been updated by Google, as noted by MacRumours.

The outlet insisted the upgrade means slightly more content is now visible on either model of the iPad Pro.

The new update is available for each application right now.
