Ernesto Valverde has named star player Lionel Messi in his squad to face their Spanish rivals.

However, he has admitted he will wait until the “last moment” before deciding if he plays or not due to fitness concerns.

The Barcelona manger said: “It is true that sometimes we have had doubts with players and we have waited until the last moment.

“It’s the same with Messi.”

Valverde also declared there “is not a favourite” in this evening’s tie and that if Messi is absent, it will not alter the club’s plans drastically.

He went on: “It will not alter our plans much and there is not a favourite for an El Clasico semi-final, both sides have very good players.

“We believe we have the best player in the world along with many other great players, as do Real Madrid – it will be a great game.”

While Real Madrid did not have the best of starts to their La Liga season, the club have climbed to third in season standings.

Real Madrid are currently eight points behind Barcelona in the Spanish league.
