Anthony Davis: LA Clippers to launch stunning trade to steal Los Angeles Lakers target

That is according to local publication Los Angeles Times, who believe a recent deal has opened up a glorious opportunity.

The Clippers completed a surprise trade with Philadelphia 76ers earlier this week.

Tobias Harris was joined by two other players in leaving the Staples Center.

In return, the Lakers acquired three first-round picks and a group of players, which most notably includes Landry Shamet.

The brave deal means the playoff chasing Clippers, without Harris, now face a difficult ask to make the playoffs.

But it has opened up a large chunk of salary cap which could allow the acquisition of two superstars.

And the Clippers’ hierarchy are being touted to make a move for Davis, who handed in a trade request last week.

On top of that, the centre’s agent, Rich Paul, also handed in a four-team list of potential destinations for his client.

And the Clippers were included, alongside the Lakers, New York Kicks and Milwaukee Bucks.

The trade deadline slams shut at 8pm (GMT) on Thursday so all deals must be concluded by then or else they will have to wait until the summer.

It is thought the Pelicans are keen on seeing this window out without any more departures so that Boston Celtics can enter the bidding in July.

However, Davis is growing increasingly frustrated as his side continue to languish near the foot of the Western Conference.

And he is attempting to force his way out of the franchise.

The Lakers have already seen six bids turned down by the Pelicans.

The latest offer included six players and two first-round picks.

But they could re-enter negotiations over the next 24 hours – unless the Clippers steal a march.
