Terese (played by Rebekah Elmaloglou) decided to give her relationship with Leo (Tim Kano) another chance after she was shot during the terrifying siege on Neighbours a couple of weeks ago.
However, the decision has been playing on her mind as during her unconscious state, Terese confessed her love for her former lover Paul (Stefan Dennis) who she called things off with, to be with his son.
Upcoming scenes on the Channel 5 soap will see Terese utterly surprised when Leo makes a grand proposal to show how committed he is to her, after he called things off between the two to be with Delaney Renshaw (Ella Newton) over the festive period.
Though she understands Leo was being blackmailed, Leo’s proposal gives Terese food for thought and she decides to end things with her young lover.
Speaking about Terese’s decision, actress Rebekah Elmaloglou, 45, revealed exclusively to Express.co.uk Paul is the man her character’s heart lies with.
“That whole ‘Paul Terese’ thing is there’s always that underlying attraction and powerplay and love and attraction that’s always there between the two of them,” she said.
“She just goes ‘Nah, can’t do this’ and then finally giving into her attraction to Paul.
“It is all very complicated but at the end of the day, she realises Leo isn’t really the one for her at all and Paul is the one.
In the initial aftermath of the break-up, Terese will run to Paul and admit she is love with him, giving in to the weeks of sexual attraction between the two Ramsay Street residents.
Giving their romance a chance, Terese and Paul try to hide their re-found love for each other from Leo: “It’s all pretty intense and an unusual situation,” Rebekah added.
However, it won’t be long before Leo uncovers the real reason Terese broke things off with him as he walks in his father and former lover in a passionate embrace.
As he reels from the revelation about Paul and Terese, it seems Leo will also quickly move on as actor Tim Kano, 32, teased a new romance for his character.
In the initial days of the love triangle, it was never the intention for Paul and Terese to reunite, as Rebekah reveals.
“When they decided to put Terese and Leo together, it wasn’t always the plan at all. Obviously, the plot so far in advance,” she explained.
“They were like ‘Let’s put Terese and Leo together’ and from what I believed at the very beginning, it was going to be quite lasting.”
The actress continued: “At this stage I think people are very excited to have Paul and Terese together.”
What also leads Terese to reunite with Paul is her reaction to the devastating news Sonya Rebecchi (Eve Morey) has stage-four ovarian cancer.
Having been diagnosed with breast cancer in the past, Terese is rocked by the news and finds comfort by running into the arms of Paul.
“It does effect Terese a lot,” Rebekah revealed, adding: “I think this is what makes her feel very strongly about Paul, that Paul is the one.
“When she does find out Sonya’s been diagnosed, she runs straight to Paul and not Leo. She shuts off to Leo about it.
“It makes her realise Paul is the one she wants to be with,” the actress concluded. Will love run the course of time?
