Leah Bracknell health update: Emmerdale star ‘forced to slow down’ after 'painful' fall

Leah Bracknell, who played Zoe Tate in Emmerdale from 1989 until 2006, has been living with incurable lung cancer since discovering her illness three years ago.

The former soap star has spoken openly about her battle with terminal lung cancer via her blog, Something Beginning With C.

And in her latest post, Leah said she has had a set back after suffering a “painful fall”.

She wore: “Trouble is, I tripped over some washing (I know, ridiculous, and painful!) and have been forced to slow down, to stop, confined to the static safety of the sofa out of harm’s way for a few weeks.”

Attempting to find the positives in the situation, Leah revealed she is planning on releasing a book.

“Good in the sense that I have no alternative but to get on with writing my book,” she divulged. “But oh the yearning for the sweet nourishment of my heart and soul.”

Leah added: “No matter, the memory and promise of nature’s caress inspire me daily, she is going nowhere. And neither am I.”

Also in the blog post, titled Nourish Your Soul, Leah hinted at having positive moments during her cancer battle.

“It now comes as no surprise to me that against the backdrop of all that currently challenges me, life can taste sweeter than ever,” she said.

“And I don’t say this with any sense of irony. Not every day nor every oment, but here and there, like a shooting star that illuminates the night sky or the glory of a rainbow before it fades.

“Small nuggets of gold reveal themselves to me, glinting beneath the water on the muddy river bed. And in those moments I am rich.”

Leah shared a link to the blog post on her Instagram page, where she had 1,098 followers.

The actress uploaded a photo of herself lying next to a tree stump with a smile on her face.

Leah appeared content as she basked in the sunlight, whilst wearing a thick, warm jumper.

In a previous blog post, Leah explained she has been using homemade cannabis oil as part of her treatment.

“I decided to integrate plant medicine into my healing programme, and I began to use cannabis oil high in THC medicinally from the day I left the hospital two years ago,” she wrote.

Leah has been very open about her cancer journey and previously revealed it took 10 days and four GPs to see her before she was admitted to A&E.

It was there she discovered she had stage 4 lung cancer.

Leah insisted the NHS “needs saving, before the disease of neglect and lack of funding and secretive selling off kills it off once and for all”.

She added: “Where would we be, where would I be without it? Not here and now, that’s for sure.”
