Phil Mitchell (played by Steve McFadden) had some EastEnders viewers puzzled when he made a shocking sex act confession at the end of Tuesday night’s show.
Returning home after a trip to the Queen Vic, the mechanic made the startling admission while he spoke to wife Sharon (Letitia Dean).
Sharon was suffering from a headache after a tense conversation with her toy-boy lover Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), who she has been having an affair with.
The heated exchange left her lacking energy and when her husband tried to initiate sex she politely declined.
While they stood in the kitchen, Phil made his advances and held his partner close as they engaged in conversation.
But an unwell Sharon told him: “I shouldn’t have had that wine at lunchtime, I’ve got a banging headache.”
“That old chestnut,” the father-of-two sighed, to which Sharon protested: “No, it’s true.”
Intent on relieving his wife of her headache, Phil offered to get Sharon anything to remedy the pain.
However, Sharon insisted she would take care of it herself and declared: “No, it’s alright. I’ll sort myself out.”
After Phil planted a tender kiss on his spouses check and quipped: “You and me both.”
The hilarious remark sent fans into a frenzy, with many taking to Twitter to comment on the amusing scene.
One person wrote: “Eugh gross, did Phil Mitchell just insinuate what I think he did?” while another added: “Phil kills me, ‘You and me both’ hahaha.”(sic)
A third fan tweeted: “Wow, I can’t deal with Phil Mitchell implying he’s off for a w***.”
Someone else said: “Phil Mitchell saying he has to sort himself out is the funniest innuendo EastEnders has used recently.”
Meanwhile, a fifth commentator shared: “Great, now I have an image of Phil Mitchell having a w***.”
Somebody else admitted: “Phil Mitchell has just made a joke about masturbating on EastEnders and it’s the highlight of my day.”
Clearly, Phil is still besotted with his wife – but will he still be as in love with her when he discovers she has been cheating on him with Keanu?
EastEnders boss Kate Oates recently spilled on the captivating love triangle, teasing a shock twist.
“We’re going to be playing more of that amazing love triangle that Keanu has fallen into. It’s going to get really messy,” she dished.
EastEnders continues Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm.
